Upskilling.

Being a bundle of excitable energy right up until bedtime yesterday caught up with me at precisely 10am  when all I could do to stop myself yawning was go and stand under our newly fixed air conditioner which blows out incredibly strong, cold air. It worked okay. I think I still would have preferred to have gone back to bed though.

If I had been wrapped up in my duvet however, I would not have gotten to make the most of the admittedly excellent eyeliner that I did on myself this morning, even after all the moaning that I did yesterday. Good eyeliner is something that I am appreciating now, as it’s a skill that will be lost come my new life timetable because nobody can do a cat eye at 4am. The world will be lucky if there isn’t mascara on my cheek, so I’ll do what I can, when I can at the moment.

Having A Disco Ball.

I would argue that I have too much energy for someone who woke themself up at 5:38am thanks to a bad dream. An adorable child that came into work yesterday literally came back to haunt me and it was TERRIBLE.

In a sense it was almost helpful as I had to pop into work at 8:45am to help open the shop due to someone being off sick. That was the plan anyway. Get in, help do the cash, get out, retire to a coffee shop for the rest of the day. It got to 2:15 and then I finally got away. Such is the life of an Assistant Manager. Needs must, and you just get on with it.

That left me just enough time to pop up to my old stomping ground to see the girls in the Drakes Circus Boots who I do miss dreadfully. I ended up having Cloé sit me down and do all my make-up, including perfect eyeliner flicks which made me jealous of my own eyes. I do not have the patience or dexterity to do good eyeliner myself so I look forward to earning enough to be able to hire Cloé as my make-up artist who is constantly by my side.

I wasn’t doing anything special this evening that warranted the on fleekest of on fleek brows by the way. I got home and had a very loud bedroom disco which got me right in the mood for Machfest which is merely 6 weeks away. To say I’m excited is an understatement.

I’m just hoping that said excitement won’t keep me awake all night, because thanks to my partying I’ve not had my usual evening nap and I am going to be incredibly crabby in the morning if I don’t get a little shut eye.

Loud And Unclear.

The most important thing about any public demonstration is to make sure your message gets heard loud and clear.

With that in mind, this afternoon there were a lot of people walking past our shop towards the sundial chanting “Save Our Badgers”. Or “Save Our Budget.” Or possibly “Save Our Pandas.” Definitely one of those three. What followed was a little bit of in-store schooling on what the difference between badgers, pandas and skunks as their colouring can make it very tricky to tell them apart. (Obviously I was the one teaching the lesson.)

It’s a good thing that no two days at work are the same, isn’t it? Yes.

You Snooze, You Win.

It started off as a bit of a joke, but I’m really coming around to the idea of us stringing up a hammock for us to nap at the quieter times of the day.

Such times may be getting few and far between but I think it’ll be the knowledge that we could snooze if we wanted that’s the important thing.

More Than I Can Choo Choo.

I have spent the majority of my evening poring over train and bus timetables and I can safely say that my brain hurts, and the early mornings I’ve been slightly whining about recently are nothing compared to what I’ve got ahead of me.

I am going to enjoy these 6am lie ins whilst I still can…

Hatching.

It’s been another nice day, and I’m really doing my best not to count my chickens but this week is looking to be one of the better ones in recent memory.

I spent my day in the dispensary, learning how to do some of the things I still didn’t have a clue about because every day is a school day when it comes to the pharmacy. It does keep me busy though, which means that my time flies and by the time 5:30 rolled around, it only felt like I’d done about three hours of work.

The heavy nap I’m inevitably about to have may say otherwise though.

All The P’s.

This has been an absolutely lovely Tuesday, chaps and chapesses.

I didn’t even begrudge waking up at 6:15am despite my alarm being set for 7:30am as the weather was delightful at that time of the morning and it gave me ample opportunity to watch all of Stag (excellent, excellent stuff) before I had to actually get out of bed to get ready for my day.

Then it was time to listen to the new episode of Pappy’s Bangers and Mash, which is truly a delight and makes the 15th of every month one of my favourite days. Come join the other dear listeners at P-bam.com.

I packed myself into the car in order to head over to Tavistock for my meeting which was a delight, and the wonderful weather made the journey much nicer.

Once I was done and dusted, it was back home for pizza, Kung Fu Panda 3 (actually quite a charming film, I’ll have you know) and deciding that “pleasurable narwhal with a plethora of pleather plumes” may well be the most satisfying sentence for one to say. Pleurisy got omitted for obvious reasons.

Clap. Clap. Clap.

I shall take the slow clap that I am so deserving of this evening.

Despite having a rather important meeting tomorrow afternoon, I have been an absolute muppet and dropped my phone directly onto my face, giving the impression of being socked in the mouth somewhat.

Good one, kiddo.

It’s been a mixed day. I mean, I’d gone into work at 6:30 and gotten back home again by 7am thanks to an early morning store alarm call out, and a very lovely taxi driver who was just as chipper as I was at that time of the day, which definitely helped set me up. I neglected to tell him that despite being business on the bottom (jeans and boots), I was all leisure under my coat as I was still wearing my pyjama top because I didn’t think he needed to know. I’m fine telling the actual internet though, because that’s the kind of thing I do.

I was then back at work to start my actual day by 8am, so at least I was wide awake and not at all crabby, which really is the least you can expect on a Monday morning.

Sunday Silence.

Nothing of importance or excitement to note today, yet I’m still struggling to keep my eyes open before it gets to 11pm.

It’s obvious that my circadian rhythm has switched to that of a person with a proper full time job, given that despite my scheduled lie-in (that was only going to be until 8:30am), 7am came and I was wide awake with no hope of drifting back off. At least I’ll be fine when it comes to the clocks changing fairly soon.

Sleep Talking.

I think that one of the best things about being a grown up (and bests are few and far between as the responsibilities you have as an adult often suck) is getting home from work and not having to answer to anybody else should you want to nap, especially for an extended time.

If I want to sleep for two hours because I can barely keep my eyes open then my goodness, I will go ahead and do it. I do at least have the sense to change out of my work uniform into my pyjamas, because I do naps properly – comfy clothes and cosy duvets really do make for the best experience possible.

Today was almost as busy as Christmas in store, so snuggling down for a rest tonight was not only necessary, but definitely well deserved.

The napping is also helpful considering I’m up naturally at the crack of dawn, so I’m basically making up for lost lie-in time at the start of my day.
