Sweet Like Chocolate.

28 Jun

It’s only Thursday and I’m already shattered. You wouldn’t think standing around in a shop all day could be quite as tiring as it actually is.

The only thing that’s pushing me through this next month is the fact that the money I’m earning will see me through Edinburgh. Tomorrow’s wages could be spent on a show ticket…or something else. (It’ll be spent on a show ticket.)

I may complain a tiny bit, but I genuinely love my job. I enjoy chatting to customers and just generally being helpful.

And most of the time, my customers are great too. Take tonight for example – a couple and their daughter came over to the fragrance department to have a browse. I got into a conversation with them, which ended up with us trying out several different perfumes. Their daughter couldn’t have been older than five or six and kept asking questions, in the way that kids do. She was really adorable, and had the filthiest laugh I’ve ever heard outside of my own. Somehow, she coined the nickname “White Chocolate” for me. No idea why. They’re coming back in on Saturday to try out the perfumes again, as the little one has a party to go to tomorrow. I’m jealous, to be honest. On the way out of the store, I heard the Dad telling his daughter to say goodbye to the lady. All I heard from across the shop was “Bye Bye Chocolate! Bye Chocolate!”. My heart melted. It was one of the cutest things ever. It made me broody. Welp.

I’m aware it’s almost midnight, right, but I’m about to go and have some scrambled eggs as I’ve not actually had dinner yet. If that’s so wrong, then I don’t ever want to be right.

Tonight, I made myself eggy bread (or “french toast”) at about midnight. I don’t ever want to be right.

So...what do you think?
